Reconvening of the Legislative Assembly

IQALUIT, Nunavut (November 22, 2021) - Speaker Tony Akoak today announced that the Legislative Assembly’s Full Caucus has confirmed that the House is scheduled to reconvene on Monday, February 21, 2022, for its winter sitting. The date will be formally confirmed by way of Proclamation.

Premier P.J. Akeeagok said, “Prior to the House reconvening for its next sitting, all Members will meet as a Full Caucus to begin the important collective work of defining a mandate statement for our term of office. I look forward to tabling the government’s mandate statement at the earliest opportunity.”

Caucus Chair Joe Savikataaq said, “Newly-elected Members will complete the orientation to their new roles and responsibilities during the last two weeks of January. All Regular Members will also be considering the government’s draft 2022-2023 capital estimates prior to their introduction in the winter sitting.”
