Legislative Assembly Invites Applications to Serve on the Nunavut Electoral Boundaries Commission

IQALUIT, Nunavut (June 13, 2022) - Speaker Tony Akoak today invited Nunavummiut to submit applications to serve on the Nunavut Electoral Boundaries Commission.


Section 14 of the Nunavut Elections Act requires that an electoral boundaries commission “must be established for Nunavut every 10 years commencing in 2022.” The last electoral boundaries commission was established in 2010. Its final report was tabled in the Legislative Assembly on September 28, 2011.

Standing Committee Announces Televised Hearing on the Report of the Auditor General of Canada to the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut

IQALUIT, Nunavut (April 22, 2022) - The Legislative Assembly’s Standing Committee on Oversight of Government Operations and Public Accounts will hold a televised hearing from April 26-27, 2022, on the Report of the Auditor General of Canada to the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut: Follow-up Audit on Corrections in Nunavut.

Reconvening of the Legislative Assembly

IQALUIT, Nunavut (April 19, 2022) - Speaker Tony Akoak today announced that the Legislative Assembly will reconvene on April 20, 2022, at 1:30pm.

Speaker Akoak said, “Following consultations with my colleagues, I am satisfied that the public interest requires that the House reconvene to fulfill its obligation under the Integrity Act to consider the recent report of the Integrity Commissioner.”
