Steven Taqtu was elected in the general election held on October 27, 2025, to represent the constituency of Quttiktuq in the 7th Legislative Assembly of Nunavut.
Prior to his election, Mr. Taqtu held a variety of positions with Baffinland Iron Mines, Arctic Fresh, Arctic Connections and the Ikajutit Hunters' and Trappers' Association.
Steven and April are the proud parents of Judah, Lance, Naja and Tuukka.
Mr. Taqtu has served as a volunteer firefighter and a member of the community search and rescue organization in Arctic Bay.
Mr. Taqtu’s personal interests include hunting, fishing and other on-the-land activities.
