Standing Committee Announces Televised Hearing on the Report of the Auditor General of Canada to the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut

IQALUIT, Nunavut (April 22, 2022) - The Legislative Assembly’s Standing Committee on Oversight of Government Operations and Public Accounts will hold a televised hearing from April 26-27, 2022, on the Report of the Auditor General of Canada to the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut: Follow-up Audit on Corrections in Nunavut.

Senior officials from the Government of Nunavut’s Department of Justice will also appear as witnesses at the televised hearing.

“The standing committee’s televised hearing will allow Members of the Legislative Assembly to consider the extent to which the Government of Nunavut is taking action to address the Auditor General’s recommendations,” said Committee Chairperson George Hickes, MLA for Iqaluit- Tasiluk.

The hearing begins at 1:30pm on Tuesday, April 26, 2022. Although the Visitors’ Gallery has been reopened, members of the public are required to wear masks while in the Legislative Assembly. The hearing will be televised on local community cable stations and direct-to-home satellite service on the Bell (channel 513) and Shaw (channel 289 - classic / channel 489 - new lineup) networks.
