Daniel Qavvik was first elected in 2021 to serve in the 6th Legislative Assembly of Nunavut as the Member for Hudson Bay. He was re-elected by acclamation to serve as a Member of the 7th Legislative Assembly.
Mr. Qavvik serves as the Chairperson of Full Caucus and as a member of the Management and Services Board and the Striking Committee.
During the 6th Legislative Assembly, Mr. Qavvik served for a period of time on the Executive Council as Minister of Environment.
Prior to his election, Mr. Qavvik was employed as a Conservation Officer with the territorial Department of Environment. Mr. Qavvik is a graduate of Nunavut Arctic College’s Environmental technology Program.
Mr. Qavvik is a long-time search and rescue volunteer and community harvester.
Daniel is the proud father of Daniel, Jacquinta, Madalie, Stella and Rosalinda. He is the proud grandfather of Leticia. Mr. Qavviq’s personal interests include hunting and other outdoor pursuits.
