Joe Enook was re-elected in the general election held on October 28, 2013, to represent the constituency of Tununiq in the 4th Legislative Assembly of Nunavut. Mr. Enook was formally appointed Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly on November 19, 2013.
Mr. Enook previously sat in the 3rd Legislative Assembly, following a by-election held on September 12, 2011. Mr. Enook served as a Deputy Chairperson of the Committee of the Whole during the 3rd Legislative Assembly.
Prior to his election to the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Enook served as the Nunasi Corporation’s Vice-President of Nunavut Operations from 2000-2011. Mr. Enook previously worked as the Executive Assistant to the President of Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated from 1994-2000. He has also held positions in the travel and tourism sector of the economy.
Mr. Enook is a former Chairperson of the Baffin Divisional Board of Education and a member of the Pond Inlet Education Council. He has extensive experience working in the fields of board governance and oversight.
Mr. Enook’s partner is Mary D. Kilabuk. Mr. Enook’s personal interests include reading, sports and camping.
