Standing and Special Committees |

Standing Committees fulfill three important functions: the study of legislation, the examination of policy issues and the review of government spending proposals. Public hearings conducted by committees provide an opportunity for interested individuals and stakeholders to express their opinions and participate in formulating public policy. Committees report their findings and recommendations to the House for its consideration. From time to time, the Assembly may strike Special Committees to investigate specific issues or policy areas.
